Teased and previewed earlier this month, the British company have finally lifted the cover on the 2014 Jaguar XJR before it’s world debut at the 2013 New York City Auto Show.
Set to share the stage in New York with the newly revealed 2014 XKR-S GT, the companies XJ flagship model, the XJR will feature an upgraded exterior including, a new front splitter, aerodynamic side skirts, and a ventilated hood. Out the back you will notice the quad-tailpipes and a rear-lid spoiler. The XJR will sit on 20-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels wrapped in specially developed bespoke Pirelli tires.
Under the hood is a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that develops 550 horsepower 501 lb-ft of torque. Hooked up the V8 is a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, giving the the large sedan a fuel economy of 15 miles per gallon city and 23 highway with CO2 emissions of 270 g/km. If gas isn’t a problem then you may happy to hear that 0-60 can be achieved in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h). Not so bad for a big car like the XJR.
As for handling and stability, Jaguar has equipped the 2014 XJR with a newly tuned suspension featuring, dampers and stiffer spring rate, an active electronic differential and special calibrated Dynamic Stability Control system for this particular model. Jaguar hopes that these enchantments will give drivers more feedback and more road response. Apply the brakes and a set of high performance steel brake ventilated discs in 15-inch front and 14.8-inch rear diameters, will help you come to a safe stop.
Inside, R badges on the seatbacks, two-tone leather seats with contrasting color stitching, and trim in either Carbon Fiber of Piano Black. For entertainment options, the 2014 Jaguar XKJ will come with a 12-speaker Meridian audio system.
Pricing options include a standard wheelbase Jaguar XJR model which will start at $116,000 (€90,200) and a long-wheelbase version which starts at $119.000.
