Recently the McLaren P1 had a photo shoot at the McLaren Newport Beach dealership where the P1 can be seen from every angle, both from the interior and exterior. Thanks to McLaren Newport Beach for providing some amazing shots of the McLaren P1.
As a reminder, the Mclaren F1 successor makes use of a mid-mounted 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, working side by side with an electric motor mounted to the back of the engine. Both units combine for a total output of 903 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel McLaren P1 will be hooked up to a single dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox.
There are two buttons on the McLaren P1′s steering wheel. One of the buttons is labeled IPAS or Instant Power Assist System, which activates the electric motor to give the car a throttle response of a normal aspirated engine. The other button engages the Drag Reduction System or DRS for short, which reduces the rear wing angle by 23 percent. Power for the electric motor is provided by a 212-lb battery pack between the passenger and engine compartments, below the rear window.
The combination of the smooth and sleek aerodynamic profile, race-inspired technological advancements, and the addition of the state of the art hybrid system allows the McLaren P1 to sprint to 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds, 0-124 mph in under 7, and 17 seconds to reach 186 mph. The P1 is electronically limited to 217 mph (350 km/h).
